Rokkekei

Rokkakei was the name given to an early puzzle box created by the now-defunct Kensho Security Labs as part of Project Yosegi, an effort to generate a number of VMs for use with the popular HTB platform. While Rokkakei was rejected from HTB, the original images remained available after Kensho Security Labs transitioned to being Arcana Labs.

Due to various technical issues, this box could not be updated to reflect this changed origin in time for the Illuminated Arcana Launch Party. Instead, it is left in its original state as a curiosity. This box comprises three challenges: comrpomising a vulnerable web service, exploiting that compromise to gain user access to the system, and then privilege escalation to root. It’s a straightforward and simplistic puzzle, tending more toward “puzzle” than realistic hacking effort.

This Illuminated Arcana challenge and its output are provided free of upfront charge as part of the philosophy of FOSS and OSHW development practices. If you like this project and want to support its ongoing development, please check our support page.
