The written word is arguably the greatest of all human technologies and the ultimate antecedent of the entire technological age. Whatever this is, it’s not that. Writing has been an outlet for my need to self-amuse longer than tech projects have been, and along the way, I like to think I’ve learned a thing or two. While the blog is still very much the place to go for essays and news for the site, some of my longer-form writing is better expressed here.

Included below are books, short stories, and other written media I’ve put together to keep myself busy. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Arcane Revolution Trilogy

For some, the Zaxton Archipelago is an idyllic place. Crime is at a respectable low, the economy has recovered from the downturn it suffered due to events at the turn of the century, and technology is making the people’s lives easier than ever. That’s not to say Schrattal is a utopia - far from it. What crime there is, Schrattal handles through its National Police Force, a unified organization of formerly-municipal police forces. When foreign foes brandish their sabers, the Self-Defense Forces are there to keep the civilian population safe. And for everything else, the ruling College of Judges has its Agency Division - part intelligence agency, part secret police, and touching the lives of every sentient being in the Tallische Union.

The Game for Scribes

Fate deals hands both foul and fair.

The Game for Scribes is a fantasy solo journalling RPG that puts you in the twin positions of Chronicler of the history of a (hopefully) growing region, and the Leaders of that same land. Armed with your pens, inks, books, and trusty tarot deck, the game sets your wits against fate in a storytelling adventure, where success and failure are on your terms, but hang in the balance.
