The Arcane Revolution Trilogy

For some, the Zaxton Archipelago is an idyllic place. Crime is at a respectable low, the economy has recovered from the downturn it suffered due to events at the turn of the century, and technology is making the people’s lives easier than ever. That’s not to say Schrattal is a utopia - far from it. What crime there is, Schrattal handles through its National Police Force, a unified organization of formerly-municipal police forces. When foreign foes brandish their sabers, the Self-Defense Forces are there to keep the civilian population safe. And for everything else, the ruling College of Judges has its Agency Division - part intelligence agency, part secret police, and touching the lives of every sentient being in the Tallische Union.

Sanity Line

A routine investigation into a rogue copy of The Pnakotic Manuscripts is interrupted by the unexpected demise of the ring-leader of a cult whose past actions lead to an incident known as the “Tragedy of 1994”. The ensuing investigation pits Man-in-Black Vidcund Därk, an Agency Division enforcer, against National Police Force homicide detective Niles Clayton. Unknowingly, both men have stumbled into a chain of events that threatens to unravel everything Agency has tried to build. United, the two men could stand a chance, but divided, humanity’s best hope becomes the miracle of the impossible.

From the Ashes

It might be premature to call the Union dead, but it’s certainly badly wounded. The destruction of Kraterburg has left a bleeding ulcer in the social fabric. For the College of Judges, the challenges are simple: carry on, restore order, and find out just what the hell happened. Key to this task is Athena Valkoinen, one of the nearly all-powerful Men in White of Agency Division, whose investigation into Vidcund’s actions leads her to some dangerous conclusions. With trust exhausted, civilian groups vie for control of the freshly-disincorporated territories of the New Bay. While they scramble for territory and Agency makes its play for power, a forgotten threat steps out of the wings, and the curtain rises on a new kind of conflict.

The Rise

The promethean secrets can no longer be contained, even if the union technically stands. Not even Agency, with their dominion over media and discourse, could keep a lid on the truth of the Invasion of Tererra, or the nature of the Yellow Host. The Union is becoming a powder-keg, as factions vie for - and against - control of the New Power. The stage packed with the actors who fled before the light of Carcosa, and the long games of Aaron Cluny, Athena Valkoinen, the Coultiers, and Corwin Lackman are coming to a head, creating a veritable powder keg; and somebody has handed Vidcund Därk a match.

Meet Vidcund Därk. He’s an enforcer for Agency Division - one of the infamous “Men in Black”, with a reputation for callous, ruthless success. He’s in charge during the routine supervision of a prominent lecturer’s debut of a new mathematical theory - and unaware that an old friend of the professor had put Agency’s target in posession of forbidden lore. Soon, with the reappearance of an old enemy, Detective Niles Clayton of the National Police Force gets involved, and thereafter, nothing is going according to plan.

Beginning it’s life as a web serial, Sanity Line is the first in a trilogy of novels about eldrich lore, government overreach, and the collapse of civilizations. Already in print through Kindle Direct Publishing, Sanity Line is available in both paperback and ebook (epub) format through Amazon.
